About The Course:

This course is based on a book that was derived from our research from Leading Teams. That book surveyed the prevailing team leadership research. Toward the end of that research, we quite fortunately discovered the work of Harvard’s Richard Hackman and Ruth Wageman, which was finally released to a more public audience in 2017. We quickly pivoted to focus on the 6 Team Conditions research. At the same time, not only did our findings connect to Hackman and Wageman, but also those findings led us to think about the team leaders themselves more carefully. In Leading Teams, we presented 4 areas of successful teams as having a leader, people, culture, and strategy. Indeed, that finding remains the case for us today. However, as we began to look more closely at our data and frankly even the elements of the Team Diagnostic Survey (TDS) developed by Hackman and Wegman, it became apparent that the 4 Elements of Teams, also reflected what has evolved into what we now refer to as the Four Critical Elements of a Great Team Leader. We introduce this new, and derived book with a simple, profound statement: A great team leader establishes trust, treats people well, creates a safe and supportive culture, and executes a clear strategy.
