Requirements

This course will allow you to understand the basic respiratory anatomy and function from both a physiological perspective and subtle anatomy perspective.  No prior anatomy or physiology competencies needed.  We will cover everything you need to understands the elementary blocks of breathing in this course.  We are pulling out one system out of an entire whole body and connecting it to one other system.  Humans are whole beings and it is difficult to parcel it up.  However, the respiratory and nervous systems will be the main topics of this course.

You will experience the breath calming you down or energizing your system.  This course is designed for the everyday yogi (person who practices yoga) to dive a little deeper into pranayama, the fourth limb of Patanjali’s 8 limbs of yoga.  If you are considering yoga teacher training, this would be a good introduction to pranayama-only one aspect of yoga teacher training.

Besides knowledge, this course offers practical skills for influencing your nervous system.  You can practice breathing like this anywhere, anytime.  Everyone can practice yoga by breathing.  There are no special tools, skills or equipment needed.  Sitting and taking mindful breaths is the practice of yoga, just as much as standing on your mat to do a particular pose.

The question is-Are you breathing?  OR Are you being breathed?
